My name is Betty Hicks and I am the Special Services Coordinator.  I have been in the education field in Louisiana for 26 years where I taught Special Education for 20+ years. I have also taught Algebra, Home Economics, Science, and ACT Prep. 

I graduated from Santa Fe High School in Santa Fe, Tx then attended McNeese State University and Northwestern State University where I obtained my teaching degree and certification in Vocational Home Ec., Pre-School, and Mild/Moderate Special Education.

My vision for our program is to immerse Burkeville ISD with the most inclusive opportunities through student self-advocacy, services & supports, collaboration, and specially designed instruction. This vision is led by empowering each student, regardless of ability, to author their own story.
